Across Greater Portland - South Portland, Westbrook, Gray and beyond - the trucks doing the hardest work are the ones built for a body. A Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab or Express Cutaway is a cab and a rated frame with nothing behind it, so you choose exactly what goes on the back: a service body for a utility crew, a dump for a landscaper, a box for a delivery route, a stake body for a mason.
Our current inventory includes units both bare and already bodied - Knapheide service bodies and flatbeds, Unicell stake and ClassiCube bodies, Reading stake bodies, Dura-Mag and Dejana dumps and Forest River cargo bodies.
Not every job needs a chassis cab. Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD pickups pair with service bodies and BOSS snowplows, the Silverado EV Work Truck brings up to 12,500 lbs of towing to electric fleets, and Tahoe and Suburban move three-row crews and gear between job sites. Bring the job and our Business Elite team will recommend the truck, cab-to-axle and body for it.
The Chevrolet chassis bought to carry a body rather than a bed - live counts from every Quirk Chevrolet store, with Portland's trucks shown first when you shop.

A chassis cab is a truck cab on a bare frame - the Silverado 3500 HD Chassis Cab. A cutaway is a van front end on a bare frame - the Express Cutaway - and it is the usual base for box and cube bodies you can walk into from the cab. Both are built to have a body mounted behind them.
It is the distance from the back of the cab to the centre of the rear axle, and it decides which bodies will fit. Regular Cab Silverado chassis cabs offer 60 or 84.5 inches. Pick the body first, then the chassis - we will check the combination with the body builder before you order.
If the body has hydraulics - a dump hoist, a crane, a heavy liftgate - yes, and it should be ordered with the truck. A plain service box or flatbed with no moving parts does not need it.
Chevrolet notes that equipment from independent suppliers is not covered by the GM New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The body is covered by the company that built it - Knapheide, Unicell, Reading and so on. Ask us who services the body locally before you commit.
